I'm SO glad I read it. It's truly inspirational and life changing. Randy offers such good advice that seems so simple yet has such a huge impact on how you live your life. I felt emotionally attached to this book, almost like I lived through some of his life experiences with him. This book will make you laugh and will make you cry. It will leave a lasting impression on you that you will never be able to forget. His courage displayed in the book offers encouragement for not only cancer patients, but anyone going through tough times in their lives. He showed me the importance of living your life to the fullest possible potential and forget about what may be going wrong. I'm going to recommend this book to everyone I know. Everyone should read this book. One word: Inspirational. My reason was to learn more about the expirence of getting cancer and how to deal with the knowledge that your life can be ended. I thought this knowledge could be usefull for me in my profession as a nurse in the division of paintreatment. As part of a "painteam" I am confronted with people who are suffering with pain caused by cancer. This book were different from the other books I read in that course, it inspired me and made me feel that there is a way, not only sadness. Overlook the bad things and catch the moments of life. That makes hope and strengt when times are hard to understand and cope with. Surely he'll be on my list of "human heroes," because that's what he was a hero and certainly an inspiration. Unfortunately I had the privilege to meet him but I think he is at peace right now, met with praise for his mission here on earth, which is not over yet, and no end, because he left us his book and his sons. I'm happy and sad, but I'm sure God has a place infinitely better for it. Thank you for your inspiration, your life, your lesson, Randy Pausch. Im in a reading class this semester.This book was one of the 3 choice requirements to read.Teacher had explain some of the little details what was going to be in the book, which is about cancer and teaching. I figured this book will interests me.As i read,Randy had advices like ive never heard. Truly smart man. I believe his legend lives. I cried at some of the pages i had read. Tears flowed when at the end, when his wife hugged and whisper "please dont die". Its an emotional thing he had to go through. Now i feel smart because I can say i know who was Randy Pausch. It validates the truth that most of us hide from the fact that no one lives vroefer.So here's my angle on the whole thing. Randy Pausch inspired millions, and part of me says it's because he got sympathy votes . You know, people feeling sorry for a man with three young children with only a feel months left to live.I cast that vote. Randy deserved millions of those votes, because, unlike others in similar situations, he was able to use it for good.The saddest news of all though is that as humans, we move on to the next thing that catches our emotional attention.What I'm attempting to do, is keep his torch (our torch really) burning and find meaningful ways to encourage others to consider living like they are dying.Why? He once again confirmed so many of my personal beliefs. I have begun, at the age of 55, the journey on one of my greatest childhood dreams. And the way Karma works, this dream has come to me. FYI, we lost Jeff Zaslow to a tragic car accident in February, 2012. I can't help but think, that Randy and Jeff are once again collaborating, watching over their families, smiling, protecting and influencing them from the heavens. I weeped for days from the news of the deaths of these two men. I never met them, but they touched my life forever. Peoples live intersect for a reason.
